Bio The path that led her to this point
On a recent trip to Morocco, I was captivated by the old-world craftsmanship and rich aesthetic showcased by local artisans.
Motivated by the idea of supporting these artisans producing bespoke shoes, bags and jewellery, I developed a unique collection of beautiful handmade objects of desire.
I launched my eponymous collection early in 2014, following nearly two decades in media and corporate communications with BHP Billiton, Bank of America, Fidelity Investments, Wesfarmers and ASIC.
I have been very fortunate to have lived in Melbourne, Sydney, London, Paris, Santiago and Boston. My personal style and inspirations have been cultivated by my many travel adventures to Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North and Latin America and Africa.
ME & MS GEORGIE seeks to promote opportunity, pride and prosperity for artisans and celebrate their skill and cultural heritage. The distinctive collection will continue to evolve as I explore colour, craftsmanship and the art of possibility.
Q&A Insider advice & tips

My greatest achievement is balancing a demanding and interesting corporate career and raising my young son.
What's been your biggest challenge so far?
Taking a great leap into the unknown was a challenge. I have no fashion experience, but I have vision and passion. I have left the comfort of a regular salary and some sense of stability for a more creative journey. Getting to launch day was a challenge but the steep learning curve and thrill of the unknown is very motivating.
Best lesson you've learned along the way?
Seek advice often and early. Get a mentor and test your ideas. On the days that you may feel crippled with fear or doubt seek multiple sources of positive reinforcement and take it one day at a time.
A website, book or resource that has helped you in your business or inspired you and why?
My most loved business resources are my Macbook Pro and iPhone. I depend heavily on these clever tools. I also read a lot of philosophy to keep my mind positive. Two favourite books are autobiographies of Madeleine Albright, former US Secretary of State and Katharine Graham, publisher and owner of The Washington Post. Two very inspiring and resourceful women.
Which person or brand do you most admire and why?
Apple is a powerful brand and one I greatly admire. Its products have form, function and beauty. The visual story is simple yet powerful and the company pursues innovation at an incredible speed and with enthusiasm. Apple delivers on its promises and keep investors happy. And I am a happy customer.
What advice would you give someone starting an independent business in your industry?
Don't quit the daydream. Make it happen. Create the professional sojourn you wish for with gusto and have no regrets while trying.
